![]() If you buy the 280X some people over at the netkas forum might be able to help you flash it so that it becomes fully mac compatible. These cards are only an issue when you're trying to boot from a usb key by holding the option key or stuff like that, which is why i'd recommend you keep the original apple graphics card just in case you need to reinstall your mac. Once your computer is fully loaded though you'll have everything working (the display will not turn on immediately after the chime sound but only when the computer is about to ask you for your password) (when I say everything will work I mean OpenGL, OpenCl, Metal.). The only difference compared to a mac edition is that these cards will not be fully compatible as they will not display the boot screen. ![]() OS X already comes with a few drivers so if you buy a 280X, 380 or 380X you should be fine. If it's a 4.1 you'll have to flash the 5.1 firmware on it before putting the 6 core cpu in and the 1333mhz memory. But the other Macs have moved on, and this refresh sees the tower system losing ground, despite being Apple. The current 1066mhz memory is compatible and honestly you won't see a big difference between 1333mhz and 1066mhz. Mid-2012 Mac Pro Review It’s not that the new Mac Pro is a bad machine-far from it. As long as the mac pro is a 5.1 and the cpu is a 6 core then 1333mhz should work fine.
